Finance Corner

AIESEC Serbia Fs 07-08 Role

"The role of the finance team is to make decisions of vital importance for local committees and in that way provide financial sustainability which is essential for development of the LCs and the members."

MAY

This was the month of transition, planning and team building. Although it was very challenging, this month was extremely exciting… Getting to know with your new team, new responsibilities, new challenges…

At NPM, finance team met for the first time and the avalanche started! :)

At 89th National Conference of AIESEC Serbia finance guys (and girls :) ) choose MUST DOs initiative and developed activities for Effective Administrative Management.

  • CSF: Effective Administrative Management:

Initiative: Setting up strong information management on MC/LC level
Main activities: Plan development, gathering all MC/LC documentation, classification of the documentation into folders,
education about importance of Information Management, updating on-line database, implementation check.

On this national conference VPFs got through all of the essential financial management issues such as: What is the role of Finance responsible person, decision making process, budgeting & cash flow, budget making simulation, financial reporting and transparency etc.

It was unforgettable experience for all us and we grow as a team.

JUNE

June is the month when finance guys work on their first challenge in the term, which is very important, and it is budget making. All of the LC VPFs, altogether with MCVPF, developed budgets for 2007/08 and assemblies voted for it. New budget template has been made and all VPFs handle with it very good.

Second thing is election of Internal Auditor, which is btw going to have a significantly bigger role than before, and almost every LC elected one. I must also say that the IA team is consisting of really great individuals and this can be a very good starting point for improving the efficiency of all committees and also provide better accountability.

In order to be better prepared for developing financial reports, we organized a financial report simulation which helped us observe all possible mistakes.

Changing the official person in government or police altogether with changing signatures in the banks, is also the thing that finance responsible person is doing in this month. This June was no exception.

I was also working on developing the external auditor report for the year 2006 with PricewaterhouseCoopers in a way of delivering them all of the needed documentation and information.

There is no need to mention all of the operative stuff that one VPF is buried with :)

In the end, I’d like to thank all Vice Presidents for Finance for being so proactive, creative, for their willingness to change things, for all the sharing, for active participating in the discussions on the Finance Crew list (Surely it is best list, no hard feelings:)…

For being you! Thank you!

Finance team song :)))))))))))

Ti si moj kapital,
Trziste moje ljubavi.
Volim te racionalno, ekonomicno.
Bez obzira na amortizaciju,
Nikada te necu rashodovati
Iz svoje ljubavi
Na kontu sumnjivih
I spornih potraživanja.
Volim te,
Kao visak u proizvodnji!
Ti si moj kapital, trziste moje duse,

Volim te ekonomicno i racionalno,
Nikada te necu knjiziti na otpisanu vrednost
Jer si ti moj vanredan prihod.

Hvala Pero!

@ly yours,

Rasa
